On the evening of February 28, 2013, the quiet streets of the Lewisdale area of Prince George’s County—near Chillum—were broken by gunfire. Meyder Bladimir Yuman, an 18-year-old male, was outside in the 7200 block of 24th Avenue when patrol officers were sent to the area at about 7:00 p.m. for a report of a shooting. According to investigators, the suspect got out of the car and approached Yuman as he walked along 24th Avenue; a confrontation followed, and he was shot. Prince George’s County Sheriff’s deputies took Selvin Salazar of Wheaton, Maryland, into custody on January 27, 2015, after county police learned he was being released by U.S. Marshals from the federal courthouse in Greenbelt and notified deputies to intercept him. Authorities said he was wanted on a first-degree murder warrant obtained by Prince George’s County Police on January 25, 2015, and that investigators had obtained information tying him directly to Yuman’s February 2013 killing.
After the arrest, officials reported Salazar was transported to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections for processing.
