In the Poplar Grove community of Baltimore, Maryland, a fatal encounter unfolded on October 28, 2017, ending the life of 44-year-old Phillip Johnson. That day, Johnson was inside a corner carryout on Edmonson Avenue when he was shot. He was later discovered unresponsive on a bench outside the establishment, bleeding from his head.
