In the autumn of 2008, the life of Ervin Dwayne Rice Jr., a 29-year-old Navy veteran from Louisville, Kentucky, was tragically cut short. On Wednesday, October 15, 2008, Rice was killed in an act of violence that has yet to be solved. A member of the Newburg Church of Christ, he was a father to a daughter, Akira N. Rice.
