In the spring of 2020, a tragedy unfolded in a quiet Windsor Mill, Maryland apartment building, cutting short the life of a 30-year-old woman. On the morning of Friday, May 1st, residents of the 7200 block of Chippenham Place were faced with a grim discovery. Marlen Xioma Maldonado-Caceres was found lying in a third-floor hallway, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital in a desperate attempt to save her life.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Maldonado-Caceres succumbed to her injuries and passed away at the hospital. The investigation into her death quickly painted a dark picture of domestic violence. Authorities identified her ex-boyfriend as the perpetrator in what they determined to be a murder-attempted suicide. The investigation revealed that he had fatally shot her before turning the gun on himself.
Shortly after finding Maldonado-Caceres, police located her ex-boyfriend in a vehicle close to the apartment building. He was suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital in grave condition. Law enforcement officials stated that they were not seeking any other individuals in connection with the shooting, believing it to be a contained incident between the former couple. The police did not publicly release the name of the ex-boyfriend.
