On Christmas Eve of 2020, the life of 39-year-old Megan Goltz-Clemetson was tragically cut short in her Hagerstown, Maryland home. Police were dispatched to the residence on Potomac Heights Boulevard for a domestic disturbance call at approximately 4:51 pm. Upon their arrival, they discovered three children inside the home, unharmed but soon to be faced with a devastating reality. A search of the residence led to the discovery of Megan's body; she had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation determined that the homicide had occurred earlier in the day.
Shortly after authorities found Megan, her husband, Raymond Clemetson, then 42, arrived at the Hagerstown Police Department and turned himself in. Following an investigation by detectives and processing of the crime scene by the Western Maryland Regional Crime Lab, Raymond Clemetson was arrested. The Department of Social Services for Washington County responded to assist with the care of the children.
Raymond Clemetson was subsequently taken to the Washington County Detention Center and faced a litany of charges for his wife's death. These charges included first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and a gun-related offense. Friends and acquaintances remembered Megan as a hardworking and conscientious person, a ray of life whose smile and laughter could brighten any room.
