Keya Nichcole Beale, a 50-year-old female, was fatally shot on an evening in April 2021, the victim of what authorities have described as a road rage incident in Riverdale, Maryland. Born and raised in the Washington D.C. area, Beale was a passenger in a vehicle when the shooting occurred, ending a life that had deeply touched countless others.
Weeks after the tragic event that shook the community,
a suspect was identified and apprehended. Maurice Terrell Bellinger, a 31-year-old man from Riverdale, was taken into custody in the vicinity of Charlotte, North Carolina, and faced extradition back to Prince George's County to answer for the crime. The charges brought against Bellinger were severe, including first- and second-degree murder, as well as attempted first- and second-degree murder, reflecting the grave nature of the offense.
Further investigation into Bellinger's background revealed a troubling history of recent aggressive behavior. Charging documents alleged his involvement in other assaults in the area, including another road rage incident that occurred just a few months prior to the shooting that claimed Keya Beale's life.
