In the quiet pre-dawn hours of a Thursday morning in White Marsh, Maryland, a residence on Proctor Avenue became the scene of a tragedy. It was there, just after 4:30 a.m., that 32-year-old Shaunya Green, a female, was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound to her upper body. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Green was quickly transported to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save her life.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she was pronounced dead.
The suspect in the fatal shooting did not flee the scene. Gomezgeka L. Chisala, a 29-year-old, was arrested at the residence by Baltimore County Police. Following his arrest, Chisala was charged with first-degree murder. He was subsequently held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on a no-bail status, awaiting a bail review hearing. The shooting cut short the life of Shaunya Green, who was remembered by family and friends as being fearless, fun-loving, and full of life. The incident left a community in shock and a family mourning the loss of a loved one to gun violence on July 8, 2021.
