On November 23, 2021, 28-year-old Wayniqua Johnson, a Black female, was found deceased in her Pikesville, Maryland, apartment on Stockmill Road. Responding to a shooting call at approximately 5:10 p.m., police discovered Johnson inside the residence with a fatal gunshot wound. Her death marked the 50th homicide in Baltimore County for that year.
The investigation quickly led to a suspect, and in less than 24 hours, authorities arrested 18-year-old Shaheem Muse.
Muse was identified as Johnson's boyfriend, and investigators learned that the two had recently begun a relationship. He was taken into custody shortly after leaving the home where Johnson's body was found. Police recovered a handgun from Muse at the time of his arrest.
Shaheem Muse was charged with first-degree murder and was held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center. While an arrest was made, a motive for the shooting was not immediately released by law enforcement officials. Online court records indicated a bail review hearing was scheduled for Muse on November 29, 2021.
