In the early morning hours of June 14, 2022, the stillness of a Baltimore street was broken by the discovery of a wounded man. An off-duty Baltimore police sergeant, at approximately 1:43 a.m., found 31-year-old Darrel Fulton slumped over in the 2700 block of West Belvedere Avenue. Fulton, a male, was able to tell the officer that he had been shot before being rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.
Despite medical efforts, Darrel Fulton succumbed to his injuries three days
later, on June 17, 2022. Investigators believe that the shooting did not occur where he was found, but rather in the 3100 block of Spaulding Avenue. It is thought that after being shot, Fulton managed to make his way to the location on West Belvedere Avenue where he was eventually discovered.
To date, the investigation into Darrel Fulton's death has not resulted in any publicly announced arrests, and no suspects have been named. The case remains open, and authorities have encouraged anyone with information to come forward. Metro Crime Stoppers has offered a reward for information that could lead to an arrest in connection with the shooting. The lack of resolution leaves a painful void for the family and community, a story all too common in a city grappling with a high number of unsolved homicides.
