On the morning of July 29th, at approximately 10:35 a.m., gunfire erupted on North Avenue near Rosedale Street. The brazen daytime shooting resulted in four people being shot. Evay Henriques and a 34-year-old man named Bartimaeus Morris were both fatally wounded.
Two other individuals, one of whom was a 63-year-old woman waiting at a bus stop, sustained injuries but survived. The incident was part of a particularly violent weekend in the city.
At the time of the shooting, Evay's mother was on vacation, and she would later recount the devastating moment she received the news of her son's death. She had been deeply concerned about the violence in Baltimore and had hoped her son would safely reach his milestone birthday.
