In the summer of 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm on a street in South Baltimore, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. On the night of August 1st, police responded to reports of a shooting on the 2400 block of Kermit Court. There, they found 27-year-old Trevon Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics rushed the Black male to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The cause of his death was determined to be a shooting.
In the days that followed, homicide detectives began piecing together the events that led to Johnson's death. Their investigation quickly pointed them toward a suspect. Approximately two weeks after the fatal shooting, a 24-year-old man named Daquan Gilliard turned himself in to authorities. Gilliard was subsequently arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of Trevon Johnson. Following his surrender, he was taken to the Baltimore City Central Booking Intake Facility to await court proceedings.
