In a tragic event that unfolded in La Plata, Maryland, 21-year-old Sara Mann was found deceased in her family's home on November 4, 2022. A preliminary investigation by the Charles County Sheriff's Office revealed that the incident was a quadruple murder-suicide. The grim discovery was made by Sara's father, Darin Mann, when he returned home from work to find a scene of unimaginable violence.
Authorities identified the suspect as 28-year-old Andre Sales, Sara's ex-boyfriend and the
father of her two young children. It is believed that Sales entered the residence and fatally shot and stabbed Sara, her mother, 48-year-old Sommaly Mann, her 18-year-old brother, Kai Mann, and a 23-year-old family acquaintance, Javon Watson. After killing the four individuals, Sales then turned the gun on himself, taking his own life at the scene. A handgun was recovered by law enforcement. The motive for the horrific act is thought to be connected to an ongoing domestic dispute.
Sara's two young children, a two-year-old and a one-year-old, were not physically harmed during the incident and were found safe at a different location. An obituary for Sara described her as a vibrant and talkative young woman who had graduated high school a year early with a 3.9 GPA and had aspirations of becoming a businesswoman. The investigation into the deaths concluded that Sales was the sole perpetrator, and as he was deceased, there were no arrests or trials to follow. The case was closed as a murder-suicide.
