On September 7, 2014, authorities in Saluda County, South Carolina, were called to a residence near the town of Ward following reports of a shooting. The incident took place early that Sunday morning on the 2400 block of Highway 23. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of Cedric M. Gantt Sr., a male resident of the area, who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
