On a tragic Sunday morning, February 8, 2015, the community of Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina, was shaken by the violent deaths of two women. Althea Goss, a 54-year-old female, and her daughter, Kennitha 'Kupie' LaBoard, age 33, were fatally shot inside their home. The incident, which unfolded around 6:00 a.m., was the devastating culmination of a history of domestic abuse.
The perpetrator was identified as Termaine Frasier, Kennitha LaBoard's boyfriend.
In the years leading up to the fatal shooting, Ms. LaBoard had sought help from law enforcement, reporting instances of physical abuse by Frasier in both 2010 and 2012. On that Sunday morning, his violence escalated, leading him to take the lives of both his girlfriend and her mother.
In a final, tragic act, after murdering the two women, Frasier turned the gun on himself, ending his own life. The horrific event left behind Ms. LaBoard's three young children, who were present in the home at the time of the killings. The community was left to mourn the loss of Althea Goss and Kennitha LaBoard, their lives cut short in a senseless act of violence.
