In the winter of 2016, a tragic and violent series of events unfolded in Anderson, South Carolina, culminating in the death of 17-year-old Bailey Michael Lloyd. On the afternoon of Saturday, January 30, Lloyd was involved in an altercation that left another man injured and ended with his own self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to authorities, the incident began when Lloyd shot and stole drugs from 19-year-old Charles Adam Holmes.
The armed robbery and shooting occurred in front of Lloyd's residence on Old Williamston Road. Holmes sustained gunshot wounds to both of his arms but his injuries were not considered life-threatening. He was transported to a nearby hospital for surgery. A pregnant 18-year-old woman who was with Holmes at the time was also taken to the hospital after experiencing stomach pains.
Following the shooting, as deputies arrived at his home, Bailey Lloyd was seen getting out of a vehicle in the driveway and running inside the house. The driver of the vehicle was detained by law enforcement. A sheriff's dog later found Lloyd's body inside a bedroom of the home. The Anderson County Chief Deputy Coroner confirmed that the male teen died from a gunshot wound to the right side of his head, and a gun was discovered near his body. At the time of the incident, Lloyd's parents were at a neighbor's house. The case was still under investigation, and no immediate charges were filed in the aftermath of the two shootings.
