In early February 2016, a search was initiated for 57-year-old Jeffrey Scott Turner, a resident of Canton, North Carolina, after he was reported missing by his family. Turner was last seen on the morning of Monday, February 8, driving his 1987 black Toyota pickup truck. The search shifted to Mountain Rest, South Carolina, the following day when local authorities located his unoccupied vehicle near the Chattooga River.
