In the early morning hours of June 5, 2016, the community of Hardeeville, South Carolina, was shaken by the discovery of a deceased 24-year-old Black / African American female named Syquest Carolyn Jaquan Lockwood-Montiel Gonzalez. Deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office were dispatched around 3:00 a.m. to a location described in reports as Argent Landing off Old Charleston Road, near the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Harbour Drive off Purrysburg Road.
