In the early morning hours of January 15, 2017, the life of Lee Edward Trowell, a 50-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short on Vermont Avenue in west Louisville. His death marked the first fatal shooting of the new year in the city. Trowell was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 5 a.m.
