In the early morning hours of January 15, 2017, the life of Lee Edward Trowell, a 50-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short on Vermont Avenue in west Louisville. His death marked the first fatal shooting of the new year in the city. Trowell was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 5 a.m.
The incident, which occurred at a residence located at 3138 Vermont Avenue, launched a homicide investigation by the Louisville Metro Police Department. Despite the passage of time, the case has grown cold, leaving a family without answers and a community searching for justice. No arrests have ever been made in connection with the murder of Lee Trowell, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects.
