In the summer of 2017, a domestic dispute escalated into a fatal encounter, ending the life of 36-year-old Amanda Renee Robinson. A Black female from Florence, South Carolina, Robinson was at her home on Blass Drive on July 16th when an argument with her husband, George Robert McCall, turned violent. The disagreement, reportedly over a cell phone, tragically culminated in Robinson's death.
The couple's 13-year-old daughter witnessed the horrific events unfold.
According to reports, McCall struck Robinson in the face with a firearm before shooting her multiple times. In the immediate aftermath, McCall fled the scene, but his freedom was short-lived. He was apprehended by the South Carolina Highway Patrol a short time later.
Following his capture, George Robert McCall was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. The legal proceedings concluded in April 2019 when McCall entered a guilty plea. A South Carolina Circuit Court Judge sentenced him to 37 years in prison for the murder of his wife, bringing a measure of closure to a case that highlighted the devastating consequences of domestic violence.
