In a quiet Mauldin, South Carolina neighborhood, a devastating tragedy unfolded, leaving a community in shock and mourning. Thirteen-year-old Ahbteen Oveissi, a male student at Mauldin Middle School, was found deceased in his home on Laurel Meadows Parkway on September 25, 2017. The young boy's life was cut short in a harrowing act of violence that also claimed the life of his father.
Authorities from the Mauldin Police Department and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office were called
to the residence where they made the grim discovery. Inside an upstairs bedroom, they found both Ahbteen and his father, Jahan Oveissi, each with gunshot wounds to the head. The subsequent investigation painted a grim picture of the events that had transpired.
The coroner's report officially ruled Ahbteen's death a homicide, while his father's death was determined to be a suicide. It was concluded that Jahan Oveissi had shot his son before taking his own life.
