In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Gadsden, South Carolina, a dispute escalated into deadly violence, claiming the life of 31-year-old Richard Lamar Patterson. On May 5, 2019, at approximately 1:30 a.m., deputies from the Richland County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the 7900 block of Bluff Road following reports of a fight.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Richard Lamar Patterson, a male resident of Columbia, suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal. The Richland County Coroner's Office later confirmed that Patterson died at 2:40 a.m. from multiple gunshot wounds.
