Senior Airman Jose Llanes, aged 28, was found dead on May 20, 2019, near Relief Road in Sumter County, South Carolina, approximately 20 miles southeast of Shaw Air Force Base. Llanes had been reported missing on May 18, 2019, after his family last saw him at his home on Lyman Road. He served as a 20th Logistics Readiness Squadron aircraft parts store journeyman at Shaw Air Force Base, where he had been stationed since March 2013.
