Laura Ashlee Anderson, a 21-year-old female, was tragically killed on August 24, 2020, in Georgetown, South Carolina, in what authorities described as a senseless act of road rage. On that fateful evening, Anderson was at her new home, which she had just purchased, when her stepfather, 45-year-old Charles Nicholas Wall, arrived to give her a set of keys.
As Wall turned into his stepdaughter's driveway, his vehicle was rear-ended by a car driven by Ty Sheem Ha Sheem Walters III.
Following the minor collision, an altercation ensued. Walters, who was reportedly extremely frustrated by the accident, retrieved a. 40-caliber handgun from his vehicle and opened fire. He shot both Anderson and Wall twice, killing them at the scene. Another individual present, Paul McConnell, was also shot through the arm. After emptying the handgun, Walters chased McConnell, tackled him, and struck him in the head with the weapon. McConnell was left in critical condition but was expected to survive.
After the shooting, Walters fled into a nearby wooded area. Law enforcement, with the assistance of police dogs, tracked him down and arrested him about half a mile from the crime scene. He was subsequently charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.
In August 2023, Tysheem Walters III, then 26, pleaded guilty to the murders of Laura Anderson and Charles Wall. A judge sentenced him to two concurrent 60-year terms for the murders and an additional 30-year sentence for the attempted murder of Francis Paul McConnell. Under the terms of his sentence, Walters is not eligible for parole. Anderson, an aspiring teacher who was pursuing a degree in Elementary Education, was remembered as being full of life with a great love for children and animals.
