On the night before Thanksgiving, November 25, 2020, 30-year-old Tonya Denise Burch was shot and killed in Richburg, South Carolina. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in a car parked outside a home on Kati Lane. Burch, a mother of two and a manager at a Subway in Rock Hill, was found by Chester County Sheriff's deputies with gunshot wounds to her head and leg and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man who was in the car with Burch was also wounded in the shooting.
He was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation into the shooting was conducted by the Chester County Sheriff's Office with assistance from the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division.
Five days later, on November 30, 2020, authorities arrested 18-year-old Henry Solis Gomez in connection with the fatal shooting. Gomez, who lived on a street adjacent to where the incident took place, was charged with murder.
