Rufus E. Carmichael, a 48-year-old resident of West Columbia, South Carolina, was found dead on March 13, 2021, off the side of the road in Batesburg, SC. His body was discovered in the 100 block of Holder Road, and he had sustained at least one gunshot wound. The Aiken County Coroner, Darryl Ables, confirmed the identity of the deceased and indicated that an autopsy would be conducted in Newberry.
