On a late Saturday afternoon, the life of 28-year-old Tevin Platts of Hampton County was tragically cut short. On September 18, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Platts was shot in the upper body along Cypress Branch Road in Jasper County. Deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the area near U.S. 321 around 5 p.m., where they discovered Platts' body on the side of the road. The Sheriff's Office immediately began investigating his death as a homicide.
