Deputy Sheriff Terry Thomas O'Connell of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department in Missouri was tragically killed on April 5, 1978. The incident occurred during a routine traffic stop on Highway 30 near Cedar Hill. As Deputy O'Connell was filling out a speeding ticket, the driver of the vehicle, Jackie Lee Lindsey, suddenly produced a handgun and shot him. Deputy O'Connell was pronounced dead at the scene.
