On April 4, 2014, 43-year-old Thomas Louis Seminazzi of Maryland died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police pursuit that began in Sikeston, Missouri, and concluded in Portageville, Missouri. The incident commenced when officers responded to a disturbance on Marian Street in Sikeston, where Seminazzi reportedly brandished a firearm during an argument with his former girlfriend.
