On April 6, 2016, the bodies of 26-year-old Cierra Owens and 60-year-old Gerry Denise Smith were discovered in separate rooms of a burning home in the 6100 block of Eaton in Berkeley, Missouri. Both women had been shot to death before the fire started. The house was shared with Gerry Smith's son, who was also Cierra Owens' boyfriend.
