On January 20, 2022, authorities in St. Louis County, Missouri, were called to a residence in the suburb of Berkeley following reports of a shooting. Officers arrived at the home located in the 4000 block of McKibbon Road, where they discovered the body of 41-year-old Jessica Cobb. The victim, a Black female, was found lying in the grass outside the residence, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation led police to identify a suspect, 24-year-old Logan L.
Cheatham, a woman from St. Louis. Witnesses at the scene provided accounts suggesting that the shooting occurred during a physical altercation. According to these statements, Cheatham allegedly struck Cobb with a firearm. During the act of striking the victim, the weapon discharged, striking Cobb and causing her death. Following the incident, Cheatham reportedly fled the scene but later sought medical treatment at Christian Hospital for injuries to her hand, which alerted authorities to her involvement.
Prosecutors with the St. Louis County Circuit Court subsequently filed charges against Cheatham. She was charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter, a felony.
