Louis Gumpenberger, a 33-year-old resident of St. Charles, Missouri, died on August 16, 2016, in O'Fallon, Missouri. Gumpenberger, who had been left mentally and physically disabled following a severe car accident in 2005, was shot and killed at the home of Pamela Hupp. The incident initially appeared to be a case of self-defense, with Hupp claiming that Gumpenberger had attacked her with a knife and demanded money. However, further investigation revealed a more complex and sinister plot.
