A road rage incident on a Kansas City, Missouri highway escalated into a fatal shooting, claiming the life of 35-year-old Clinton Alsobrook. The male victim, a resident of Charlotte, Texas, was in Kansas City for work.
On the night of October 14, 2016, Alsobrook was driving his SUV with a passenger on Highway 152. An aggressive driving situation developed between Alsobrook's vehicle and a Chrysler 300. As both vehicles were exiting onto northbound Interstate 29, they collided.
Following the collision, a confrontation occurred. The driver of the Chrysler, later identified as 22-year-old Bobby T. Crumpton of Wichita, Kansas, fired multiple shots into Alsobrook's SUV. Alsobrook was struck in the head and leg, and he died at the scene. His passenger sustained minor injuries. Authorities later confirmed that Alsobrook was unarmed.
After the shooting, Crumpton drove away from the scene to a nearby gas station and called 911 to report the incident. When police arrived, they found a handgun on the console of his car. Crumpton told officers that Alsobrook had been driving erratically and that he feared for his life, claiming the other driver tried to run him over. He reportedly admitted to the 911 operator that he thought he 'shot more than I had to.'
Bobby T. Crumpton was taken into custody and subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with Clinton Alsobrook's death. He was held on a $1 million cash-only bond. Alsobrook was remembered by his wife as a husband of 13 years and a father to four children, who was working out of state to support his family.
