A woman is found deceased behind a truck stop
On May 19, 1992, authorities in Indiana were alerted to a grim discovery at a truck stop located at the intersection of State Road 1 and Interstate 70 in Jackson Township. At the rear of the Stop One Truck Stop, the body of a deceased female was found, prompting an immediate homicide investigation by the Indiana State Police. The victim was subsequently identified as 25-year-old Lisa M. Wallace, a Caucasian woman who hailed from Cadiz, Kentucky.
Investigators uncovered that in the time leading up to her death, Wallace had been temporarily living at a motel on East Washington Street in Indianapolis. Detectives learned she had been frequenting various truck stops along the I-70 corridor east of the city. Despite these leads, the specific circumstances surrounding her death and the identity of the perpetrator remained elusive.
The case has persisted for decades without a reported arrest or conviction. It is currently classified as a cold case by the Indiana State Police, who continue to list the investigation as open. No specific suspects have been publicly named, and authorities have periodically renewed their plea for anyone with information regarding Wallace’s activities or associates from that period to come forward to assist in resolving the unsolved crime.
