The devastating event unfolded inside a local apartment building. Instead of playing with her toys, London discovered a loaded handgun at her home.
When police arrived at the scene, they found her uncle holding her limp body.
London, who was affectionately called 'Little Miss Simmons,' was remembered as a loving sister and daughter. She had a fondness for swimming and dressing up in 'My Little Pony' pajamas. In the wake of her death, family and friends gathered to light 1,123 candles in her memory, a beacon of light for a life lost too soon.
