In the early morning hours of August 5, 2018, police officers in Springfield, Missouri, were dispatched to a residence on the 1100 block of North Grant Avenue following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival at the scene around 2:38 a.m., first responders discovered a 32-year-old male victim, Marcus Gilbert, suffering from a severe gunshot wound to the head.
