Black / African American Joseph Quran Lacombe, a 26-year-old male resident of Saint Charles, Missouri, was fatally shot on the evening of June 1, 2019. The incident occurred in the 2500 block of Chesstal Street, where police officers responded to a call regarding a shooting around 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Joseph lying in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was immediately transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The investigation quickly identified the suspect as the victim's cousin, 27-year-old Lamont Lacombe, who remained at the scene. According to police reports, the shooting stemmed from a heated verbal altercation between the two men regarding a $45 debt owed to Joseph and a dispute over personal items. The argument escalated into violence when Lamont retrieved a firearm and discharged it multiple times at his cousin. A. 40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun was recovered by law enforcement at the location of the shooting.
Lamont Lacombe was taken into custody without incident and subsequently interviewed by detectives. During the interrogation, he confessed to shooting Joseph following the dispute. The St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Lamont with second-degree murder. Following his arrest, he was held at the St. Charles County Department of Corrections on a $100,000 cash-only bond. Friends and family members later expressed shock at the violence, noting that the two cousins had grown up together and were so close they often referred to one another as brothers.
