In May 2020, a tragedy unfolded in a mobile home on Mar-Ton Estates Drive in O'Fallon, Missouri, involving two teenagers and a firearm. Owen Steven Whayne Fielder, a 13-year-old male, was visiting a friend's residence on the afternoon of May 9 when he was shot in the head. The incident occurred in a bedroom where Owen and an older acquaintance were handling a 9mm pistol.
