In what was supposed to be the safety of his own home in Jennings, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri, 18-year-old Martinez Ursery Jr. was fatally shot on September 1, 2024. The incident occurred in the afternoon, around 3:20 p.m., in the 9400 block of Auburn Drive. Emergency services responded to a call for a shooting and found the young man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ursery was an African American male.
