On the night of Friday, August 7, 2020, violence erupted in the city of Pine Lawn in St. Louis County, Missouri, resulting in a triple shooting that claimed the life of one man and left two others injured. Officers from the North County Police Cooperative were dispatched to the 4100 block of Cedarwood Avenue around 11:00 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered three victims at the scene, all suffering from gunshot wounds.
Among the victims was 34-year-old African American male Jermarrio Dewayne Morris, who had sustained a critical gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries, dying shortly after the incident. The shooting also critically injured a 39-year-old woman, who was shot in the abdomen and required surgery, and a 32-year-old man who was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and subsequently released.
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated to assist with the homicide investigation. At the time of the initial reports, authorities had not identified a suspect or a motive for the attack. Police urged anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers to remain anonymous. While the investigation was active in August 2020, public records from the time did not immediately announce an arrest, and the case was listed among the Major Case Squad's past investigations shortly thereafter.
