After being sworn in for 1 day. That sucks. I am glad nobody 'saw' who killed the evangelist. They probably didn't push very hard for the identity.

I recently stumbled across the tragic story of Deputy Constable William Frank Carey, and I can't help but feel deeply for his family and the small town community of Carmel, Indiana. It’s important to remember how events like this impact the people left behind. Imagine losing someone like Deputy Carey, who had only been with the force for a year but clearly made an impact in that short time.
The fact that it was a traveling evangelist, "Cyclone Johnson," who was responsible just adds another layer to the tragedy. From what I've read, Johnson was known for his violent tendencies, yet it ended up costing a dedicated officer his life. It must have been a profound loss for Carmel, leaving the town to confront the reality that even in a seemingly peaceful place, dangers lurk.
I can only hope the community found some solace in coming together during such a difficult time. It’s stories like these that remind us of the real human cost behind the headlines, and the bravery of those who step forward to protect us, even in the face of uncertainty. Let’s never forget Deputy Carey’s sacrifice and honor his memory as a devoted public servant.
