Has anyone looked into the background of the Hammond Distillery itself? I'm curious about what security measures were in place at the time and how common it was for distilleries to be targeted by bandits during Prohibition. I feel like understanding the environment Anderson was working in might give us insights into the challenges he faced. It's terrifying to think of the constant threat he and others must have experienced, knowing they were up against armed gangs. My thoughts are with Anderson's family; his death is a grim reminder of the hidden battles people faced behind the scenes in that era.
I've been digging into the case of Robert G. Anderson, and one aspect that really struck me is the sheer audacity of the bandits that fateful night. It blows my mind to think about the level of planning and determination it must have taken for them to not only target a distillery, which would have been highly guarded during Prohibition, but also to engage in a shootout with a federal agent. What were they thinking? And how did they coordinate such an attack without raising any alarms beforehand? It makes me wonder about the organized crime networks of the time and how extensive their reach truly was. Anderson was just trying to do his job, and the fact that he encountered such a ruthless operation speaks volumes to the perilous environment law enforcement faced. My thoughts are with his family, who must have dealt with unbearable grief knowing that his life was taken while he was simply trying to protect the law and his community.
