Susan and Steven deserved so much more, and I hope their families have found some peace with the passage of time. This whole case serves as a poignant reminder of how crucial it is to pay attention to the signs and take action when threats arise. The changes in campus safety protocols and anti-stalking laws that followed show that there are lessons to be learned, no matter how painful.
