I can't stop thinking about Corporal Paul Deguch's young family and how deeply this tragedy must have impacted them. Especially his daughter, who was only 2 months old at the time. Growing up without a father who was taken so abruptly is unimaginable. I really hope the community has continued to rally around his wife and kids over the years. It's important they know they're not alone as they navigate life without him. This incident must have resonated with other officers too, reminding them of the unpredictable dangers they confront every day. My thoughts are with everyone who was close to him and affected by his loss.

I've been thinking a lot about the impact Corporal Deguch’s murder must have had on the community back then. It’s devastating to imagine what his family went through, especially with such young children left behind. It seems like he was truly dedicated to his role in the police department and cared deeply about making South Bend safer. It's just so sad to think about how this act of senseless violence altered their lives forever. The fact that he was simply doing his job and trying to protect the community when this happened is such a stark reminder of the risks officers take every day. My heart goes out to his wife and kids; it must have been incredibly difficult to navigate life without him. It’s stories like these that make me appreciate the sacrifices of law enforcement and hope that the community continues to remember his legacy and support his family.
