I was just reading about Ernest Drake III's funeral service held at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, and I can't stop thinking about how the community must have felt during that time. Even though crime had unfortunately become all too common in Indianapolis around then, it doesn't change how devastating it must have been for his family and friends to come together to honor his life amid such tragic circumstances. I often think about how places like churches become grounding spaces for communities, especially after such shocking events. It's where people can find some form of solace and support, even when answers seem elusive. It's just so unfair that Ernest's family had to bury him in a community struggling with unsolved cases and relentless violence. His family deserves closure, and I hope they find some peace despite the ongoing investigation. My heart genuinely goes out to them.
