Hey everyone, I've been following the case of young Dezjaun Sanders, and I just can't get over how gun violence keeps stealing our youth. What catches my eye is how his mom, Tiffany Sanders, mentioned the irony of moving to Elkhart to find a safer environment, only to face this devastating tragedy. It just makes you wonder, where are we supposed to go to keep our kids safe? It breaks my heart to think of all the parents who must live in constant fear every day. I really hope that Dezjaun’s story, as painful as it is, sparks some real action against gun violence in Elkhart and beyond. It's clear something needs to change. My thoughts are with Dezjaun’s family—I can't imagine the pain they're going through. No parent should ever have to bury their child.

I was reflecting on the immense courage it must have taken for the eyewitnesses to come forward, especially the child who identified Jwan Hardin as the shooter. It's daunting to imagine what they went through. In communities plagued by violence, it's not easy to speak up, and doing so can often come with its own set of risks. Yet, without their testimonies, justice for Dezjaun might have been delayed or even denied altogether. This case really highlights the importance of community support and the bravery of individuals who step forward despite the fear of retaliation. My heart goes out to Dezjaun's family, but also deep gratitude to those who made sure his story was heard. Wishing for continued healing in Elkhart and stronger measures to keep children safe. Would love to hear more thoughts on how we can better support witnesses in these cases.
