I've been following Edward Rice's case for some time now, and it’s so difficult to see how much pain his family must be going through. He was just 32 when his life was taken, and it's distressing to think that his case is still unresolved. It makes me wonder about the impact this backlog of unsolved homicides has on the families and the community here in Indianapolis. The fact that there are around 1,000 unsolved cases is mind-boggling. I read that the IMPD has created a specific unit to address these cold cases, which gives a glimmer of hope. But knowing they are understaffed and dealing with logistical issues is disheartening. It's like the safety net is torn and needs urgent mending. I hope that by raising awareness and pushing for more resources, there might be positive changes in the future. Every victim had a story and family left to grieve. For Edward's family and the many others waiting for justice, let's hope that change comes soon.
