I've been following Gene Thompson's case and am struck by what's come out about the firearm used in the incident. It's hard to grasp that Corbin Page had reportedly used the same weapon in another crime. This aspect seems to emphasize the ongoing cycle of violence connected to illegal firearms. It’s alarming how one piece of evidence can tie together multiple cases and shows how essential forensic analysis is in piecing these puzzles together. I'm holding Gene's family in my thoughts—they’ve endured an unimaginably difficult journey. It may not bring back Gene, but I hope knowing that his case has helped resolve other crimes brings the community some comfort and reduces future suffering.
