Has anyone else been following the trial of Garry Lee Higgins? The part that gets to me is how the legal system allowed him to avoid the most severe charges. I understand plea agreements are a common strategy, but it feels like justice was only partially served. Higgins admitted to armed robbery, but I can't help but think about Johnny Peluyera's family and the pain they must grapple with knowing the murder charge was dropped in the agreement. It’s like a part of Johnny's story is missing from the official records. I've been thinking a lot about Johnny's dad, too. The heartbreak of watching his son in those final moments is something no parent should ever have to experience. It’s awful to see a simple online transaction take such a tragic turn. I'm hopeful this case will lead to better safety measures for buying and selling online, but it’s bittersweet knowing it comes at such a high human cost. Sending love to Johnny’s family and holding them close in my thoughts.
