I’ve been thinking a lot about Christopher Smith and the devastating impact his tragic death had on his family. One thing that stands out is how his son, Cameron, remembers him as a hero. It's such a powerful testament to Christopher’s character and bravery in a dire moment. To risk your own life to try and stop violence takes immense courage—it truly speaks volumes about the kind of person he was. It just makes me wonder about the ripple effects on Cameron's life and how he is coping after losing his father in such a senseless way. I can’t imagine the mix of emotions he must feel—pride in his father’s bravery, but also the pain of losing him just as they were about to celebrate such a joyous new chapter. My heart goes out to Cameron and the entire Smith family. Hoping this terrible incident sparks more conversations about how to make public spaces safer for everyone. We owe it to people like Christopher to address the root causes of violence and, importantly, find ways to prevent these tragedies from happening again.
