I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact this has had on the young people involved. While nothing justifies what happened to Manny Diaz, it’s alarming to see juveniles caught up in such a serious crime. What drove them to take part in something so violent? Are they habitual offenders, or did they just fall into the wrong crowd? Gary has seen its share of troubles, but it’s crucial that we look into what might be influencing these young individuals. Does the community need more programs to keep kids off the streets? Their actions have taken a good man from his family and friends, and his community is left asking how we can prevent such tragedies. My heart truly goes out to Manny's loved ones as they seek justice.
